Travel

Trains
Exeter St Davids to Waterloo takes around 3 and a half hours but Tate Modern is walkable *
Plymouth to Paddington takes around 3 and a half hours hours but you'll need to get tube to Waterloo *

bookings:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

http://www.thetrainline.com

British Rail National Enquiries - 0845 7484950

A Student Railcard costs £24 for 1 year - to purchase you will need your student card, proof of age and a photo and will need to buy this in advance (not on the morning of travel!)

This gives a discount of 33% - a return ticket from Plymouth to Paddington will cost £46

Advance tickets are available for around £17 but you must book these well in advance

With a Student Railcard you cannot usually travel before 10am or until 19.10 (7.10pm) on your return journey so check the details.

Road
If driving could you offer a fellow student a lift to share costs?
The SU minibus is available for hire (you will obviously need a valid driving licence)

Coach - 08705 80 80 80
Coach is very slow (around 6hrs one way) but economical - especially if you book in advance. When you arrive in London you will then need to make your way from Victoria Coach Station to the Tate Modern (tube to Blackfriars).

A day return is £33 from a booking office but cheaper tickets are available online - you may be able to get a cheap 'funfare' ticket but you will need to book this online, in advance:

You may wish to buy an NX2 discount card - more info here:
